CLeStuM’s 2nd International Online Seminar

For the second time since its inception, Collaborative Lesson Study Malta (CLeStuM) will be organising an online seminar on lesson study – a professional development approach for teacher collaborative learning. This seminar, entitled ‘Learning to Lead Lesson Study’, will be held on Saturday 3rd February 2024. It focuses on the learning to lead lesson study experiences of eleven postgraduate students reading for the Leading Lesson Study course within the MA in Educational Leadership and Management programme offered by the Faculty of Education at the University of Malta. These students will present their lesson study work and experiences in leading teachers to engage in lesson study. The presentations will be divided into three main themes:

  1. learning opportunities and challenges in planning the research lesson,
  2. task design and development and the involvement of knowledgeable others, and
  3. the role and involvement of the school leadership team in lesson study.

Besides the student presentations Prof. Colin Calleja, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, will deliver the opening speech. Also, the seminar will host two international keynote speakers. The opening keynote will be delivered by Vincent Andrew who is a lead facilitator at the Teachers Unit in the Brunei Darussalam Leadership and Teacher Academy. Our closing keynote will be delivered by Steven Mannens who is the founder of ‘Lesson Study Vlaanderen’ and an educational advisor and lecturer in school development at Odisee University of Applied Sciences in Brussels.
