About The Conference

WALS 2022 Kuala Lumpur will bring together teachers, administrators, researchers and education leaders from different parts of the world to share learnings and challenges related to Lesson Studies. The conference theme is Creating Lesson Study in Sustaining Community and Providing Quality Education.

All presenters must attend the conference in person. (Online and pre-recorded presentations will not be accepted). However, for those who are unable to attend the conference in person, online viewing is possible, with limited access to the sessions and events. Register Now!

Annual General Meeting​

WALS is a member-governed organization, and you can help shape its future! Be sure to attend the Annual General Meeting, 14:00-15:30 on September 2022, to hear about new WALS initiatives and become involved in our shared mission.​

Tokkatsu (Special Activities) Strand

On September 21, three sessions in this special strand will explore how Japanese schools build teacher collaboration and students’ willingness to engage in challenging learning–key supports for Lesson Study.

Ph.D and Early Career Researcher Day
(September 19)

On September 19, a special program is organized for Graduate Students and Early Career Researchers, to support their exchange with each other and with experienced researchers. The program is free but requires advance registration.

School Visits
(September 23)

Optional school visits (small additional fee) will take place on September 23. Visitors can choose among seven different school settings, ranging from pre-school to university, and including sites serving indigenous, special needs, and gifted students.

Malaysian Socio-cultural Tour
(September 24)

The Conference Organizing Committee has arranged a Cultural Tour on September 24 to support participants’ understanding of Malyasian history and cultures. The Cultural Tour will include sight-seeing at popular local venues and shopping attractions. (Additional fee and registration required).
