WALS 2019 reportage

Thank you!

The organising committee would like to thank all who made WALS 2019 a great success: our highly appreciated keynote speakers, presenters, chairs, discussants and participants. You made WALS 2019 a truly inspiring and successful conference. Many thanks for all your hard work, your enthusiastic willingness to share your knowledge and the inspiration you gave us.

We also would like to express our gratitude to WALS for their wonderful support.

It has been a true honour and great joy to organise WALS 2019.

Welcome

VU Amsterdam, University of Groningen and Utrecht University, three leading Dutch universities for teacher education, hosted the 13th Annual International Conference of the World Association of Lesson Studies (WALS) on 3-6 September 2019 in the capital of the Netherlands: Amsterdam. Teachers, practitioners and researchers from all over the world took part in this international and important event on the European continent to learn from each other on Lesson Studies. The theme of the conference reflects three lenses to look at Lesson Study: the craftsmanship it demands, its sustainable effects on learning and professional development and the beauty of its focus on what is and will always be at the heart of all education: the pedagogies which make us learn.

The three looking glasses each deserve their merits, but should also be viewed as strongly interrelated and reinforcing each other.
