Prof Emeritus Manabu Sato Received Prestigious Chinese Mingyuan Award for Education
Congratulations to our longstanding ExCo member Manabu Sato who has been given the prestigious Chinese Mingyuan Award for Education. This is the China equivalent of a Nobel prize. (This year’s only other recipient is U.S. educator Howard Gardner).
This huge acknowledgement of and recognition for the sustained impact of Manabu’s work on education in China and across the world is richly deserved. Prof Emeritus Manabu Sato is currently having his seventh conference for School as Learning Community (SLC) in Bangkok. SLC is a major network for educational improvement through lesson study, community, democracy and equity across this East Asia.
WALS is intensely proud of Manabu’s achievement. It is important for WALS, for lesson study and for the inclusion and agency of children, young people, teachers and leaders in learning – around the world.
