London Mathematics Lesson Study Hub

Jean Lang has worked with Pete Dudley to co-lead a Lesson Study project across London which has been funded by the Greater London Authority. This project has involved over 90 schools and is currently running into its 5th year with schools now taking the lead in running 2 Lesson Study Hubs based in the London Boroughs of Redbridge and Croydon. The project so far has provided data to show positive impact on teaching and learning including an 18% increase in pupils meeting or exceeding expectations after a 3 Research Lesson Study cycle.

Jean is currently supporting a project based at Liverpool John Moores University involving University Tutors, Initial Teacher Training students and their mentors in schools to use Lesson Study as a tool for improving students’ pedagogical and subject knowledge. Participants are planning to put together a proposal for a symposium at WALS19 in Amsterdam.
