Second Lesson Study Immersion Programme Beijing China

Given the success of the 1st Lesson Study Immersion Programme in Tokyo, Windesheim University of Applied Sciences (Zwolle, the Netherlands) is currently organizing a 2nd  and similar study visit to Beijing and the WALS 2018 to learn about and experience how Chinese Lesson Study works. Last November 2017 a group of twenty Dutch teachers and researchers participated in a three-day Lesson Study-Immersion Programme at Tokyo Gakugei University (IMPULS programme). This was prior to the WALS 2017 conference in Nagoya (Japan) last November, which they also visited. This 1st study visit was organized by Windesheim University of Applied Sciences as an activity of the Dutch Lesson Study consortium (Lesson Study NL, www.LessonStudyNL). This consortium consists of five universities covering different regions of the Netherlands.

Teachers and researchers from all over the Netherlands can participate in this programme. In addition to the Lesson Study activities, the study visit also contains an introduction to Chinese culture and language, including a visit to Chinese highlights such as the Chinese Wall, the Summer Palace, and the Forbidden City. The programme takes place from November 17 to 26 and is open to all Dutch teachers (from primary education to higher education) and researchers who wish to explore Chinese deliberate practice of teacher learning using Lesson Study.
