Implementation of Lesson Studies in Austria

Lesson Study and Learning Study have been implemented increasingly in initial teacher training as well as in continuous professional development in Austria. Universities as well as colleges of teacher education all over Austria make use of Lesson Study in their educational research and they offer courses about Lesson Study on a regular basis.

Lesson Study is used intensively in the context of teacher induction as well as in teaching practice. Local school councils have discovered the potential of Lesson Study and they promote CPD through Lesson Study to replace one-off in-service courses.

A nation-wide networking meeting is organised by the Ministry of Education and Research on an annual basis at the University College of Teacher Education in Carinthia.

Several book publications about Lesson Study in Austria and Germany in German language are in print.
